What nutritional information have you learned that most people don’t know?
How to read a label and what the ingredients actually mean.
What training information have you learned that most people don’t know?
Most people dont know that the more muscle you have the better your body burns fat.
What are your three biggest nutrition pet peeves?
People who don’t eat and think they will loose weight.
People see a food is “Fat Free” and eat tons of it!
People think that they can eat whatever they want IF they are working out.
What are the three things you see people doing in the gym that bother you most?
Going too slow and talking too much
On cardio machines and barely moving…waste of time!
What is a quote that you live by?
“You are what you eat.”
Who is your inspiration?
My husband, hes very dedicated,disciplined and consistent.
Who or what got you started?
I was at a low point in my life and was frustrated with my body. I wanted to get into shape and look different than the average women,so I began my quest to transform.
What is one piece of advice you give to new lifters?
Form is everything – It’s not always about the weight!
What are your goals for 2011?
In 2011 my goals are to compete on the Pro stage one last time and show that with proper nutrition, exercise, and determination even a 50 year old woman can still be her best, and hopefully continue to inspire other women.
What body part do you struggle with the most, and what have you done to overcome the problem?
My legs because I have no cartilage in my knees and a hole in my femur from authritus. I am very limited to what exercises I can do and I cant use much weight. I work within my limitations.
What does your typical diet consist of?
My diet consists of lots of protein, moderate carbs, high fiber and low fat. In a nut shell; Yams, brown rice, & oatmeal for carbs, chicken, fish,egg whites, & protein shakes for protein, almonds & peanut butter for good fats. I also eat Quest bars. They are a great quick and easy on the go snack! If it’s not contest time I do add in fruits, unlimited vegetables & a gallon a day of spring water!!
